Yavatmal: Robbers broke into the house of municipal councillor Mohan Deshmukh from BJP at Dehiwalkar Layout on Monday night, injuring a security guard and stealing Rs 3,000 cash.
The robbers managed to enter the house through the gap created for an exhaust fan in the kitchen. After entering the house, they moved to the first floor based bed room where they could set their hands only on Rs3,000 cash.
Thereafter, they moved to the main hall where the guard Anant Warhade was sleeping on a sofa. They struck his head with an iron road and he collapsed. The culprits took to their heels with the booty.
The house owner, Deshmukh, had gone to Parli for a wedding. Neighbours rushed the watchman to the government medical college where he underwent a surgery and is now improving. The neighbours then reported the matter to Deshmukh who rushed to Yavatmal on Tuesday.
A dog squad and finger print experts were also summoned to obtain clues about the robbers. No arrests have been made.
