This year is all about sport biopics; and after Aamir essaying the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat in ‘Dangal,’ and Sushant Singh Rajput gearing up for the release for his biopic on MS Dhoni, the latest to join the trend is John Abraham, who, if reports are to be believed, is all set to portray the role of the legendary boxer, Captain Hawa Singh.

Hawa Singh, who is also known as the father of Indian boxing , enrolled in the army at the age of 19 and held the national championship’s title for a record of 11 years,  a record that still stays undefeated. Hawa Singh was bestowed upon with the ‘Dronacharya award’ by the government in the year 1999, but his untimely demise made it impossible for him to receive it in person. He is the founder of the ‘Bhiwani Boxing Club’, a name which is the pillar behind the likes of Vijender Singh and Akhil Kumar. Though John has not signed up officially, he is super excited to take it up. “We are both six-feet-one and weigh 94kg. His son, Sanjay Singh, daughter-in-law and two grandkids came to see me. I've not signed it yet but the family, Sam and I are all very excited about this project," he said. This is going to be an epic movie for sure!
