It was a night to celebrate for Red Flowers Tourism as they clinched the 27th Sharjah Ramadan Cup 2016 defeating Multiplex International in the final.
The tournament is organized by the Sharjah Cricket Council.
On a humid night at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Wasim Ali Mirza bowled a dream spell under the lights to scalp four crucial wickets to register a 20-run victory for Red Flowers Tourism.
When Multiplex International restricted Red Flowers Tourism to 124, they would have left the ground highly motivated during the break expecting an easy chase.
But it turned out to be otherwise as Multiplex International lost their first wicket in the second over despite a quick start. From 18 for one, Multiplex International were left tottering at 26 for four with only Sapandeep Singh (16, 9b, 3x4) reaching a double figure among the top order batsmen.
Zeeshan Khan's 18 from 21 deliveries including a six and a boundary was crucial addition in the middle order before Abdul Shakoor (26, 27b, 2x4) and Abdul Haq applied a lot of caution as they negotiated a tidy five overs to add a critical 34 runs for the seventh wicket.
But with still 30 runs needed in the last 3.3 overs, things began to go wrong for Multiplex International with Ali Mirza bowling a great over. He scalped two wickets while a run out was also effected as Multiplex International lost three wickets in the over to finish at 104 in 17.5 overs.
Abdul Haq was anguished as he helplessly watched from the other end to remain unbeaten on 22 from 18 deliveries supported by two sixes. Ali Mirza's four wickets came in 2.5 overs giving away only 15 runs while Shafaqat Ali and Mubashir Ahmed picked up two each for the winners.
Earlier, asked to bat first Red Flower Tourism also had a reasonably bad start with the first wicket falling on eight and another three when the team was on 39. Masih Yaqoob (16, 20b, 1x4, 1x6), Yasir Kaleem (14, 20b, 2x4) and Rinku Kumar (15, 16b, 1x4) all had good starts but failed to convert them into big scores.
Ubadah Barmawar fired three sixes during his 28-ball stay smashing 32 while Salman Randhava also sent the ball packing over the ropes twice to score 22 from only 12 balls before Red Flower Tourism were all out for 124 in 20 overs.
