Unrest at Allahabad University continues, students perform Buddhi-Shuddhi Yagna
Allahabad: The protest by the student leaders of Allahabad University, on their demand for cancelling the entrance test of PG courses and research on the campus, entered its second day, on Tuesday. The protestors performed a Buddhi-Shuddhi yagna at the union hall and prayed that wisdom prevail in the mind of AU V-C and he cancels the entrance test.
The agitated student leaders have alleged that there had been massive irregularity in conducting the entrance test of PG courses and that for level one of the combined research admission test (CRET)-2016.
The student leaders, along with many of the aspirants, have raised question mark on the sanctity of the entrance of these course as question paper of PGAT was leaked when the general awareness question paper went viral on whatsapp. They have also alleged that there has been several complaints that many so called ‘influential’ students were indulged in cheating.
“We demand that the varsity administration should cancel the entrance test of both of these exams and also conduct an independent inquiry in the issue so that those responsible in malign the sanctity of theses exams be brought to books”, sai AUSU former president, Richa Singh.
The protesting stundent leaders also performed a yagna (religious ritual) at the union hall on Tuesday. The students termed it as Buddhi-Shuddi yagna which was performed with the wish that almighty give wisdom to the V-C, Prof R L Hangloo so that he orders the cancellation of these tests. The student leaders also visited several hostels and delegacies (localities of the city dominated by students) and made one to one contact and invited them to turn up in large numbers on the campus on June 29 for continuing with the protest when the VC comes back on the campus.
“There had been several girls who have given application along with their admit cards and we are collecting the same so that if the varsity authorities fail to meet our demand, we will take legal action”, said Singh.
AU proctor Prof I R Siddiqui said, “when the VC returns on the campus on June 29, we will apprise him about the entire situation and forward the demand of the student leaders”.
