Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Jun 28 2016 10:32PM Malabar Cancer Center to extend workKannur, Jun 28 (UNI) The Malabar Cancer Center (MCC) director Dr Satheesh Balasubramaniyan today said the Centre has decided to extend the works of Malabar population based cancer registry (MPBCR) from North Malabar to whole Malabar district including Palakkad, Wynad ,Kozhikode and Malappuram, soon. Talking to media here today, Dr Satheesh said the MCC had started the collecting data under PBCR from Kannur, Kasargod and Mahe since January 2014 . The correct number of cancer patients pattern from North Malabar will only received from MPBCR data, for this purpose an advisory committee has constituted under the District Collector as its chairman in North Malabar districts. As many as 7639 cancer patients are registered in MCC at Kodiyeri near Thalassery during the last year alone and 99 percent of patients avail free of cost treatment under various various financial assistance and schemes from Government including Karunya benevolent scheme, Health insurance scheme and Suhurdha scheme.
