A woman surnamed Zhou living in Shunyi district called a water heater maintenance worker to her home through a website, and paid him 520 yuan. The worker then disappeared with the money without repairing her water heater, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

She claimed that she called the after-sale service center of the water heater, but the website turned out to be a fake. The producer of her water heater told her that they never created a maintenance website and never sent any worker to her home.

Zhou said she has called the maintenance worker many times, but his phone is always powered off.
