42 one-act plays finalized for Mayor’s contest
NAGPUR: Total 42 one-act plays have been finalised for Mayor’s One-Act Play State Level Contest. The final round will be held between July 3 and 10. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) in association with Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad, Nagpur Unit, has organised the contest.
Earlier, it was decided that winners of any reputed contests from all over the state will be selected for the contest that too between the period of January 1, 2013 and June 25.
It came to fore that very few contests were held in Vidarbha region. Therefore, decision was taken to invite some good and new groups from Vidarbha.
Total 50 entries were received for the contest from Vidarbha. Preliminary round was organised at Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh hall on June 25. Total 12 best one-act plays have been selected for final rounds. Total 30 one-act plays that are winners of any reputed contests also finalised. Thus, total 42 one-act plays will be performed in the final contest to be held between July 3 and 10 at Scientific Society Hall, Laxmi Nagar.
Film director Shivdas Ghodke inaugurated the preliminary rounds while chairman of NMC Sports. Culture Consultative Committee Harish Dikondwar, NMC deputy municipal commissioner Pramod Bhusari, president of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad, Nagpur Unit Praful Farkase and vice-president Dilip Thanekar were the chief guests.
Naresh Gadekar conducted the proceedings. Selectors were Ravindra Durugkar, Mukund Vasule and Kirti Manegaonkar. Preliminary round was coordinated by Rakesh Khade and Prashant Mangde.
