It has been reported that Suzuki Motor Corporation is working on the next generation of the Swift hatchback. The new-gen model in heavy camouflage caught couple of times testing abroad. Emerging reports says Suzuki will unveil the new Swift in October for international customers.

A report in NDTV Auto states the new Swift will be premiered at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. A batch of alleged pictures of the next-generation Swift was leaked online last month. The pictures released by Auto Express shed some light on the next generation.

The new Swift is expected to be slightly longer, lower and wider than the current model. The hatchback will have more coupe inspired style towards the rear end. The new Swift will be more of a hot hatch than the current model, which is known as a family car.

According to Dale Wyatt, Suzuki UK sales and marketing director, the recently launched Baleno takes care of the rational end of Suzuki's small car range. This has allowed the brand to make the next Swift much more emotional and expressive, reports Auto Express.

Despite the larger dimensions, the new Swift will weigh lesser than the current model. This is due to the use of lightweight chassis which it shares with the Baleno. For international market, the new Swift will be offered in three engine options. The first will be a 1-litre, 3-cylinder Boosterjet engine that is expected to debut in India with the Baleno RS soon. The 1.2 K-Series engine naturally aspirated engine will be also on offer. A 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine will join the powetrain range later as the mill of the Swift Sport.

The India spec model will be sold with 1.3 litre diesel engine apart the first two petrol engines. Launched in 2004, Suzuki Motor Corporation has sold over 50 lakh Swift worldwide till April this year. One of the most successful models of Maruti Suzuki, the Swift will be manufactured at the new Gujarat facility in India.
