HMV to reopen in Cardiff

Cardiff's HMV store is set to reopen in July 2016 in a new location at 41 Queen Street.

The original store in the city was opened by Bananarama and Saxon in 1983 before it moved to its second location in 2004, officially opened by Girls Aloud and Blue. The previous branch closed its doors earlier this year ahead of the move.

The shop is HMV's flagship Welsh outlet and is one of the biggest in terms of space in the retailer's estate.

Store manager Greg Johnson said: "We've received a lot of positive feedback from local people about our return to Cardiff, the largest hmv store in Wales. We will be trading across over 12,000 sq ft  and to celebrate we will be offering a £10 gift card when a customer spends £50 in store."

HMV chief executive Ian Topping added: "We would like to thank our many loyal customers in Cardiff for their continued enthusiasm and support for the reopening of their store. We look forward to once again providing the people of Cardiff with the very best in film and music."
