Three booked for assault on woman

Chandigarh: Yamunanagar police on Monday booked three men for allegedly anducting and assaulting a woman, who had filed a case of attempt to sexual abuse against Kumar Swami, a self-styled godman from Delhi. She alleged that on Sunday night, when she came out of a bus in Yamunanagar, the accused stopped her and bundled her into a car. They assaulted her and threatened her of dire consequences if she did not withdraw the case.Yamunanagar city police SHO Ajit Kumar said a case of kidnapping, assault and wrongful confinement has been registered."We are verifying the facts and will accordingly take action," he said.
The victim told police that Kumar had tried to abuse her and his close aides had even gangraped her at an unknown place, following which she had filed a criminal complaint. She said, ever since she was being pressurised to withdraw the case.
