RTD’s Free MallRide bus run on Denver’s 16th Street Mall on March 2. There are plans in the summer to move the shuttle buses to 15th Street and 17th Street on the weekends to encourage visitors to spend more time on the mall with interactive events.On public property, panhandlers are able to solicit, annoy, and sometimes intimidate. Recently a gang of scum and thugs attacked decent citizens walking down Denver’s 16th Street Mall. Let’s privatize the entire mall, selling it to the Downtown Denver Partnership. The new owners could then ban the panhandlers, drug users, alcoholics, thugs and scum who endanger and annoy decent citizens. Both police and private security would have the authority to keep undesirables off the mall if it is private property.
