ABVP activists took out a march to the University College on Monday to protest against alleged violence unleashed by SFI activists during a recent ABVP march to the Secretariat.

The march was also aimed at demanding steps to protect the Central Polytechnic College at Vattiyurkavu, which was recently denied permission by the AICTE to conduct admissions for the new academic year.

Inaugurating the demonstration, former BJP State president V. Muraleedharan accused the government of providing a tacit support to the ‘anti-social elements’ of the SFI. Under the existing circumstances, the BJP and the ABVP would go to any extent to ensure the democracy remained intact, he said.

ABVP State secretary A. Prasad, State joint secretary Ramesh Babu, and State committee member V. Manuprasad, also addressed the gathering. In a separate incident, a few activists of the SFI and the ABVP were injured during a clash that had taken place at Ottasekharamangalam, near Neyyattinkara. The incident occurred while the ABVP activists had taken out a march in connection with the ‘education bandh’ observed in the State
