Army organizes multi-specialty medical camp for border residents

RAJOURI, June 27: As a prelude to 68th Jhangar Day Celebration, to be held on July 4, 2016, a Mass Multi Super Specialty Medical and Blood Donation Camp was   conducted at Naoshera by the Indian Army deployed at Jhangar.
The camp was organized with an aim to provide necessary specialist medical care to the needy people of remote border areas. A total of 23 doctors from Naoshera, Rajouri and Jammu attended the camp along with the Army doctors and support staff. A Vaccination and Immunization Camp along with Thallasemia Awareness Drive was also conducted by Army at the venue with the help of Dr Sanjeev Digra from Government Medical College Jammu, who enlightened the local populace about the prevention and management of Thallasemia.
In addition, Neonatologist, Dr Anuj Bhatti took a lecture on prevention of Neonatal diseases and appraised about congenital anomalies to the attentive civilian and military personnel.
A total of 1532 patients were examined by the team of specialists, who included Pediatricians, Eye Specialists, Orthopaedician, Surgeon, General Physicians, ENT, Gynaecologists and Dental Surgeons. Free medicines were also given to the patients. Moreover, a team of five doctors, led by BMO Naoshera, Dr Suresh Gupta, screened 59 children for further referral and management under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram.
Army also organized a blood donation camp at the venue and donated 51 units of blood on the spot. Army Officials, MLA Ravinder Raina, SDM Naoshera, Additional SP & SDPO Naoshera also graced the event with their presence.
