Nagpur: The tragedy of the young bull which has suffered brutal acid burns has touched the heart of animal lovers, many of whom are coming forward to help the injured animal.
While animal activist Anjali Vaidyar will be adopting the animal after its treatment, a teacher from
Modern School (
Koradi Road), who does not wished to be named, has offered to bear its lifetime expenses of fodder and treatment.
“At a time when the gaushalas of the city are already overburdened, these initiatives will be of great help. Otherwise in most of the cases, such animals find it difficult to find a home post-treatment,” said Karishma Galani, city chief,
People For Animals (
PFA).
The bull was first noticed by staff members of Modern School on Friday afternoon, following which
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (
NMC) and PFA rescued it. After much hardships, it was shifted to government veterinary clinic at
Alankar Square on late Saturday night. “It is undergoing treatment for skin injuries and needs to be dressed regularly. Senior doctors will be examining it again on Monday,” said hospital sources.
This was the second such incident of cruelty towards an animal in recent past. Two months back, a two-year-old pet horse 'Bittu' was brutally burned by its owner who applied a hot paste on its body. The horse died during the treatment.
