Jamie Lynn Spears has revealed that she found out she was pregnant at 16-years-old while in a gas station toilet.

In reality TV special Jamie Lynn Spears: When the Lights Go Out on Sunday night, Britney’s younger sister told how her “world came crashing down” when she realised she was pregnant.

The actress had returned to Louisiana from filming Zoey 101 when a friend encouraged her to take a pregnancy test after being sick.

Jamie Lynn was in a relationship with Casey Aldridge at the time, but said she wasn’t pregnant.

However, she took the test and received a positive result.

“We decided to get our friend to go and buy a pregnancy test. We stopped to get gas and she was like ‘Just go and take the test real quick.’ We didn’t want to do it at home, so I went in the BP and I took a pregnancy test.”

“I sat on the thing and we were sat there looking and my friend looks down and she freaks out and I was like ‘What? What? What?’ and the test was positive and I was pregnant.”

“So I got the news in the ladies room at the BP, that about sums it all up,” she said in tears.

Jamie Lynn was starring in Nickelodeon show Zoey 101 at the time and said that she felt “extremely guilty” when she received the news, but knew what she had to do.

“I am not going to sugar coat it, things were not great there for a while,” she said.

“I lived my life trying to be this perfect girl and I was about to let people down.”

“I knew I had a lot of young girls who looked up to me and I felt that responsibility but at the end of the day I knew I would have to make a decision as a young girl myself, to do something that I could sleep with at night.”

“I knew deep down that I was going to have my little girl, even if I had to raise her on my own, which is what I did.”

Jamie Lynn got engaged to Aldridge following the pregnancy, but later split when she realised she was “rushing into something that’s not right”.

The 25-year-old is now married to Jamie Watson, who she said is “the dad every girl deserves” to eight-year-old Maddie.
