Students locked DAV (PG) College in support of their demands here today.

The protesters demanded to increase seats for graduation and postgraduation courses and improve basic amenities in the college.

The agitated students from different associations gathered on the college campus. They held a demonstration and raised slogans against the college administration.

They said the college administration should immediately take steps to increase seats for graduation and postgraduation courses as 18 new classrooms had been constructed. They said the college administration should take steps to improve basic infrastructure in the college.

They lamented over lack of the potable water supply system in the college. According to them, toilets in the college were in a dilapidated condition. They said merit forms should be released and the last date for submitting admission forms should be declared soon.

Rakesh Negi, president, DAV College Students’ Union, said a memorandum highlighting their demands was given many times to the college administration but to no avail. He said students had decided to continue with their protest until the college administration took steps to increase seats for different courses.
