A motorist has died and her daughters hospitalised after a two-car crash.

The woman in her 30s was killed on the A44 near Monkland, near Leominster in Herefordshire, at about 14:15 BST on Sunday.

Her two daughters in the same car - thought to be aged five and eight - were airlifted to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Firefighters cut them free from the Ford Ka, which had been involved in a crash with a Land Rover Freelander.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed the girls were the dead woman's children and said they sustained "serious injuries".

Two people travelling in the Land Rover were assessed but did not require hospital treatment.
