KOLKATA: While CBI on Monday proposed Madan Mitra’s treatment by the doctors at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the former minister claimed he is quite fit and does not need any such treatment at present. He also claimed on Monday that he is yet to play his best match.
Mitra appeared at the Alipore court on Monday sporting a sunglass and kurta, pyjama.
Dressed to the T, Mitra looked joyful as he entered court premise. He was released from the SSKM Hospital barely a fortnight back. CBI had already been complaining about his frequent admission into hospitals. They had already submitted an appeal with the court to get him treated by doctors from AIIMS. But Mitra’s lawyers on Monday claimed that is not necessary at this stage.
In a recent petition submitted by the CBI the central investigating agency alleged that Mitra had been out of the correctional home “for a long time” although they have been remanded to judicial custody. The list of the accused persons who “managed to keep themselves out of the correctional homes on the pretext of medical treatment” also included Matang Sinh, Manoranjana Sinh and Sadanand Gogoi. The agency found that these accused persons opted for treatment at private institutions although there were provisions for treatment at government hospitals. It alleged that the accused persons were trying to avail more freedom at the private nursing homes.
