Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Jun 27 2016 10:30PM GJM labour union calls 12-hour chakka bandh on June 30 for cause of teaDarjeeling, Jun 27 (UNI) Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) controlled labour union today called for 12-hour "Chakka Jam" or economic blockade in the hills on June 30 to protest deadlock in payment to the workers of Alchemist Group run three tea estates in Darjeeling. The three tea gardens- Pesok, Doutrey and Balason - owned by Trinamool Congress MP KD Singh of Alchemist Group, have been closed and the labourers have not been paid their wages for months, Darjeeling Terai Dooars Tea Plantation Labour Union, a GJM controlled union alleged. Union's assistant secretary Prasant Tamang said a section of workers have been on relay hunger strike since past two weeks but the management remained inactive to the plight of the workers.
