Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost eyes move to 'nice club' Southampton

Wolfsburg forward Bas Dost has said he believes Southampton would be "a great club" for him to join as he considers his options this summer.

Netherlands international Dost wants to leave Wolfsburg in the window "to take another step" in his career.

While Die Wolfe are hoping to reinforce their attack with Juventus forward Simone Zaza, Dost told Dutch magazine Helden he was attracted by the idea of a move to the Saints.

"That would be a good club for me," he said. "But I don't know if that club is realistic for me right now.

"It's a nice club, that's all I can say."

He said his aim was to start a new chapter in his career, "within Germany or to England" and added: "I want to show what can I do."
