Divided views on Sturgeon's approach

The first minister has said she will consider asking Holyrood to refuse permission for Westminster legislation which could pave the way for the UK's exit from the European Union. After the vote to leave, Nicola Sturgeon also said a second independence referendum was "highly likely".

Scottish Secretary David Mundell said this would add further uncertainty and divisiveness to an already complicated situation. Former first minister Alex Salmond said Nicola Sturgeon's measured approach in setting out her approach to keep Scotland within the EU was exactly what was needed at this time.
