Plans to expand partnership with Tata Group in India

A Starbucks store in Mumbai

MUMBAI (NewsRise) -- Starbucks Coffee Co. plans to increase its roasting capacity in India, and for the first time sell single-origin premium Arabica coffee sourced from the south Asian country in the U.S., as the world's largest coffee chain seeks to expand its partnership with Indian conglomerate Tata Group.

The U.S. coffee and food company has turned to emerging markets to drive growth amid saturating demand and stiff competition at home. Seattle-based Starbucks is focusing on expanding in new markets such as South Africa, China and India and an expanded menu that goes beyond its coffee roots to drive growth.
