Let’s Relax Thai spa chain expands into China

Thai spa chain Let’s Relax has opened its first international outlet – in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.

Parent Siam Wellness Group, a Bangkok-listed company, says the outlet has opened in Tongde Kunming Plaza (TKP), a mixed-use, 54-storey development in the CBD. The Kunming branch spans over 600 sqm on the 6th Floor and has 10 treatment rooms with single and double rooms as well as a private suite that is equipped with Private Jacuzzi overlooking the Kunming City Center view both daytime and nighttime.

Wiboon Utsahajit, Siam Wellness Group CEO, says the company wants by 2020 for Let’s Relax Spa to become a leading Asian regional spa brand.

“We plan to expand Thai Spa into the major cities in the region in both East Asian countries such as China and Hong Kong as well as in South East Asian (ASEAN) countries such as Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Laos. Several options of investment in these countries are franchise, JV or self-investment. This depends on the country of interest’s national, socio-economic and legal environment”, he said.

Utsahajit said Let’s Relax is a boutique day spa that offers high quality equipment, products and treatments with experienced and well-trained therapists for a unique and remarkable experience for customers.

“This stand-alone day spa possesses its own unique characteristics; expertise therapists, hygienically guaranteed, terrific locations and excellent service.”

In Thailand, Let’s Relax Spa is popular with international tourists, especially Chinese, hence the decision to expand internationally into China first.

“Over 80 per cent of our customers are foreign tourists, and Chinese tourists are amongst the top ranking of them.”

The Kunming branch is the first under a franchise agreement with Kunming Tailai Spa Management Co which the franchisee has the right to open spas in three provinces – Yunnan, Chongxing and Sichuan.

As it expands in Asia, Let’s Relax Spa will maintain “all aspects of the unique Thai Spa in all angles” to differentiate the unique Thai spa concept from local competitors, said Utsahajit.

Siam Wellness Group operates 25 spa outlets under three brands – RarinJinda Wellness Spa, a 5-star Wellness Spa located in premium hotels and resorts, Let’s Relax Spa, a 4-star Boutique Spa located in shopping malls, hotels and standalone areas with high tourist traffic, and Baan Suan Massage, a 3-star neighbourhood massage located in suburban Bangkok.

It also operates RarinJinda Wellness Spa Resort, restaurants Deck1 and D Bistro, markets spa products under Blooming, Siamese Wellness Secrets brand and runs a Thai Massage School.
