BHUBANESWAR: The state capital on Sunday got a third shelter for urban homeless (SUH) with tourism minister Ashok panda inaugurating the facility at Baramunda bus terminal.
The SUH can accommodate 12 persons. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has included the locations of all SUHs in the city's map through GPS so that people can help the poor locate the shelters.

The other two SUHs are located at Kharavela Nagar and Bhimpur. While the shelter at Kahravela Nagar can accomodate 28 persons, the Bhimpur has facilities for 56 persons.
The BMC sources said the third SUH has been constructed under National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM), which is meant to provide shelter to urban homeless poor in a phased manner.
According to NULM guideline, the shelter should be located close to railway stations, bus stands and markets.
