INTUC opposes 100% FDI in defence sector
Kanpur: Rashtriya Mazdoor Sangh (RMS), affiliated to Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) staged a sit-in at Bara Chauraha here on Sunday to oppose 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) in defence sector.
Addressing defence employees, INTUC state president Ashish Pandey alleged that 100% FDI in defence sector is the result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's several visits to USA.

He said that when UPA government, led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, had proposed 49% FDI in defence sector it was vehemently opposed by the BJP. This decision of Narendra Modi government besides opening gates for foreign investors would put future of lakhs of defence employees in jeopardy, he said.
"Hundred per cent FDI in defence sector means that India will have to depend on foreign companies for arms and weapons. The government should learn a lesson from the Snowboot scandal which had taken place when Atal BehariVajpayee was the prime minister of the country", the INTUC leader said.
INTUC general secretary KK Tiwari while strongly opposing 100% FDI in defence sector alleged that PM Narendra Modi is an agent of America.
