Wife of Ctg cop dies mysteriously
Wife of a detective police was declared dead at a Chittagong city hospital yesterday with her death being shrouded in mystery as there were injury marks on the body.
Talking to The Daily Star, Sub-inspector Aftab of the Detective Branch of Chittagong Metropolitan Police claimed his wife Ania Rahman Sathi, 24, tried to commit suicide to get rid of asthma.
He rescued her while she was hanging in their Absar Valley house on Love Lane and, later, took her to Max Hospital where she was declared dead, he further claimed.
According to the hospital document, she died due to “irreversible cardio respiratory failure due to a brain injury”.
When contacted the hospital over the phone to know the details, the telephone operator declined to give the doctors' contact numbers.
Sub-inspector Sompa Hazari of Kotwali Police Station, who prepared the inquest report, said there were marks of injury on the left in the forehead, left shoulder and right wrist.
In the inquiry report, the identity of woman's husband was not mentioned.
When asked about the reason, SI Sompa said she did so because Sathi's mother did not mention it.
For autopsy, the body was taken to Chittagong Medical College morgue of which sources, however, said the body also bore blood clot in the thigh and other parts.
Officer-in-Charge Jashim Uddin said Sathi might have committed suicide, adding an unnatural death case was filed.
