Mapusa: Ward No. 3 of the
Moira village panchayat went in for
bypolls to elect their new
panch member on Sunday. Seventy-seven percent of voting was recorded to decide the fate of six candidates. Of the 522 voters, 404 cast their votes despite heavy showers.
The post of the panch
member was lying vacant after member Raghuvir Bagkar resigned due to personal reasons.
Six candidates, Kailash Parab, Pravin Shirodkar, Raghunath Belekar, Rohidas Shirodkar, Rupesh Naik and Sunil Chari were in the fray for the post.
The elections were held peacefully with 185 male and 219 female members casting votes. The result will be declared on Monday morning at the Bardez mamlatdar’s office.
