Schools to go all out to welcome students
Nagpur: All schools across Vidarbha will reopen for the 2016-17 academic session on Monday in a ‘festival’ mode. Chief Minister DevendraFadnavis and Education Minister VinodTawde will interact with students of selected schools via video conferencing for the occasion. DipendraLokhande, district education officer (primary) said, “First-time students will be welcomed with roses and it will be a grand celebration.
All schools in the district have been asked to innovate in the type of celebrations they do, with the purpose of making students feel happy about being in school.”
In city too, schools have started planning the agenda for Monday when students will walk in for a fresh academic year. LJ Makasare, principal of Bishop Cotton School (primary) said, “Rose petals will be showered on students during assembly, thus ensuring that they truly feel the love and happiness. Our teachers have already prepared charts which say ‘welcome to school, 2016’ and it will be displayed prominently across the school. We will also distribute chocolates to students and there will be a special speech by a guest to motivate the kids.”
A special activity has been planned to make the moment enjoyable for students of St. Joseph Convent. Speaking on behalf of the school’s principal, Sr Sophia D’Souza, a senior teacher said, “School will start with a special assembly where students will be welcomed with some action songs and a small skit with a message. There will be a special introduction for students promoted to STD V as they will move from primary to secondary school.”
Different events will mark the day at St. John’s High School. Teacher Shiju Lukose said, “The school will reopen in the morning where an all-religion prayer assembly will be followed by the principal’s introduction speech. We will tell them how school can be such a fun place apart from the centre of learning that it is. Special activities may continue in individual classrooms as and when time permits.”
