Naqvi: Chapter on Emergency likely in school textbooks
Lucknow: BJP may introduce a chapter on Emergency in textbooks for the Central Board And Secondary Education (CBSE). In the chapter, students could be taught the "atrocities of Congress government" then and important events related to the Emergency.
Talking to media persons after felicitating Emergency Prisoners, now termed as 'Loktantra Senani', Union minister of state for parliamentary affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the future generation should know about atrocities during Emergency.

"I will urge Central government and Union HRD minister to include a chapter on Emergency in the syllabus," said Naqvi.
Raking up once again the issues of JNU, returning of awards and intolerance, Naqvi said during Emergency, despite atrocities, no one either raised slogans like 'Bharat teri barbaadi tak jung rahegi jaari' or 'Bharat tere tukde hongr', nor did any one come out in support of terrorists like Afzal Guru raising slogans like 'Afzal hum sharminda hain, tere qaatil zinda hain'.
Recounting "good work" done by Modi government in the past two years, the Union minister said poor and weaker sections of society has got maximum benefit of government policy.
"There was time when people only talked about corruption but now only talks there are talks only of LPG connection. All this is hard for Congress or other Opposition parties to digest, hence issues like intolerance and returning of awards were being raised," said Naqvi.
