Three pilgrims abandon Mansarovar yatra

PITHORAGARH: Three members of the third batch of the Kailash Mansarovar yatra returned from \/the Gala camp and left for Delhi from the base camp yesterday after they failed to scale the ascending treks on the trek route to reach the Nabhidhang camp.

Three members of the third batch of the Kailash Mansarovar yatra returned from \/the Gala camp and left for Delhi from the base camp yesterday after they failed to scale the ascending treks on the trek route to reach the Nabhidhang camp.

“Three members of the 41-member third batch—Bipin Chandra Bhogilal (60), his wife Bhawana Bipin Chandra (59) from Gujarat and Bhawana Aggarwal (50) from Chhattisgarh—have expressed their inability to ascend further beyond the Gala camp and opted to return. The members will be sent back to Delhi on KMVN vehicles,” said TS Martolia, in charge of the pilgrimage with Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN).

He said the pilgrimage was going on smoothly and two batches had already reached Tibet. The third batch reached Gunji yesterday while the fourth batch reached the base camp of Dharchula yesterday.
