Raxaul: Madhes parties are all set to launch a non-cooperation movement to address the demands of the Madhesis. A veteran Nepal leader and chairman of Sadbhawna Party Rajendra Mahato has stressed on non-cooperation movement by all parties and pressurise the government to address the demands of the Madhesis. The Nepali leader said a mass awareness drive in the country against discrimination by the government with Madhesis and other ‘janjati’ people is also necessary.
In a meeting of the Sadbhawana Party on Saturday at Kathmandu, party members unanimously proposed to be united with all the parties protesting against the present constitution. Mahato said, “Efforts are on towards forging unity with Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) as leaders of the both parties have felt a need for unity. Later we will take an initiative to bring other like-minded parties on one platform as well.”
Mahato said he had also proposed for a unity among both at TMDP national convention at Nawal-Parasi on June 20, the proposal is yet to be accepted.
On the other hand, United Democratic Madhes Front (UDMF), which have been waging an agitation in protest of the provisions related to delineation of federal provinces in the new constitution, have expressed its intention to hold talks with the government again. Mahato, who is also associated with the UDMF said, “The Front would have gone for talks even if no letter was sent by the government for the same.”
