Prem’s absconding ‘saala’ may lose revolver licence
Gaya: There is more trouble for Bablu Kumar, the fugitive ‘saala’ of former minister and seven-time Gaya MLA Prem Kumar, as the revolver licence issued to him is all set to be cancelled. According to officiating SSP Awakash Kumar, he would recommend for the cancellation of the revolver licence issued in the name of Bablu, who is alleged to have given a ‘supari’ (contract) to a criminal gang to kill a Gaya-based bullion trader.

On June 16, an attempt was made on the life of Deepak Kumar, the bullion trader, in Baitarni locality of the town. The trader survived the assassination attempt as the countrymade pistol misfired. Two of the three criminals involved in the murder attempt managed to escape while the third criminal was overpowered by the local residents and subsequently handed over to the police.
During police interrogation, the gangster spilled the beans. Bablu has since been absconding. The additional chief judicial magistrate has issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against Bablu.
The officiating SSP told TOI that police raids are continuing for the fugitive’s arrest. Asked whether action would also be taken against officials who recommended issuance of revolver licence despite Bablu’s somewhat unsavoury past, the officer said his priority right now was to get the revolver licence cancelled.
Earlier, the Gaya DM, on the recommendation of SSP Garima Malik, cancelled the licences of four weapons issued in the name of suspended JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi and her husband Bindi Yadav.
