NAGPUR: Rates of raw tur remained on the higher side at Rs 90 to 94 a kg which has also kept the price of
tur dal up. According to the weekly report prepared by the Itwari Grain and Seeds Merchants Association, the rates of Gavrani tur sourced from the state were at Rs 92 a kg for the week ending on June 26. The Karnataka variety of raw tur was quoted up to Rs 94 a kg, and imported tur from Myanmar was at Rs 90 a kg during the last one week.
This makes the best quality tur dal priced at Rs 138 a kg in the wholesale market. The second and third grades were priced at Rs 125 and Rs 122 a kg and the lowest grade at Rs 113. However, these are wholesale rate, the prices in the retail markets range from Rs 140 to 160 a kg.
Pratap Motwani, secretary of Itwari Grain and Seeds Merchants Association, said there are little chances of the rates coming down in the coming days. The demand is expected to only increase during the festive season in the coming months, he said.
There was a bullish trend in the rates of chana (gram) also. Gram, which is also used for making dal was priced at Rs 72 a kg in the wholesale market, says the association’s report prepared by Motwani.
