Omung Kumar's Sarbjit may garnered mixed reviews but the performances of lead stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda, Richa Chadha and Darshan Kumar didn't go unnoticed.

The movie managed to pull it's weight at the box office and the makers have complete faith in their project; Producer Vashu Bhagnani has confirmed that Team Sarbjit is now eyeing the Oscars.

"We will send it as an entry, independently or in the race with other films. We will channelize our energy to make sure it's in the race to become India's entry to the Oscar this year.”

“The film has already been screened at the Cannes Film Festival, where the film was highly appreciated and loved by the audiences. We will also enroll the film as one of the competitors in the bid for National Awards," he adds.

Sarbjit is based on the story of a farmer incarcerated in a Pakistani jail for over two decades, while his sister fought a dogged battle for his release,

Is it a joke? End of the year, regional film like Thithi(kannada),Sairat(marathi),Visaranai(tamil) or bollywood film umrika, angry indian godesses, parched will go for oscar. These big film fest players have world wide popularty unlike big bollywood productions.

It shall win Oscar as it is based on true story of innocent farmer being killed by Pakistan army and system. It will be an eye opner for all and uncle Sam is surely realizing this. Pakistan image will be surely damaged for good if this movie wins Oscar and no one else but Pakistan alone is to blame for it.

@salman khan You can create your movie for it. This has significance especially in light of the Khulbhushan Yadav saga. Tells you how a person can easily be labelled a spy and made to rot in jail on terrorism charges.

Who cares about the Oscar?? English shown their proud by giving Oscar to a movie like 'slumdog millionaire' despite of great Indian masterpieces, it will be stupid to run towards Oscar again. India has got great actors, directors who already one 1.2 billion hearts worth 1000 times more than Oscar !!!

@salman khan Pakistani prisoners are kept in good condition, unlike your country where they treat your minorities miserably ...So first take a look at your country than talk about others.
