GREATER NOIDA: Bisada residents and family members of accused in Akhlaq murder will hold a panchayat on Sunday evening demanding an FIR against deceased’s family for alleged cow slaughter. They will also decide on their next move in this case.
Sanjay Rana, father of key accused Vishal Rana, said that the forensic report confirms that it was cow meat.
“The police should register an FIR of cow slaughtering against deceased’s family. We are going to hold a meeting with village people to decide next move,” he said.
A Bisada resident Surajpal Singh (65) has already filed a complaint based on the forensic report of meat seeking registration of a case in Surajpur Court. The court has reserved the order for July 6.
The family members of accused have been demanding registration of FIR since the release of forensic report of meat on June 2.
Earlier this month they held a panchayat in the village and gave an ultimatum to police to file an FIR against Akhlaq’s family members within 20 days.
On the night of September 28, a mob of locals had attacked Akhlaq (55) and his son Danish (21) at their residence at Bisada village in Dadri area. Akhlaq succumbed to injuries while Danish survived with a fractured skull. The case is being heard in a fast-track court.
Police officials maintain that the meat sample was picked up from tri-junction near transformer outside Akhlaq’s house.
