Labuan: Malaysian Airlines (MAS) and other airlines should consider having separate passenger seating for Muslims and non-Muslims during the month of Ramadan to avoid uncomfortable moments when lunch or other meals are served on board.Retired Navy personnel, Vincent Fernz who suggested this and backed it up with his experience when he flew back here from Senai (Johore) via Kuala Lumpur last Friday on a MAS flight.

"I was in the same three-seater row with two elderly Muslim women when it was time for lunch.

'Having not eaten for several hours after leaving Senai very early in the morning and being in rush neither I would want to waste the prepaid lunch pack or this would be food wastage.

"I was served fish and rice but no sooner had I removed the aluminium foil when I was given looks of disapproval from the women.

"I disregarded their stares since I was hungry," he said.

Vincent said not just MAS but other airlines, too, should take note to this especially during the fasting month.

He said one way is to control the seat booking such that all Muslim are grouped together.
