Kottayam: The Nair Service Society (NSS) has condemned the move of the LDF government to dissolve the devaswom recruitment board and entrust the job to the state-run public service commission.
A resolution to this effect was passed at the annual conference of the society at its headquarters at Perunna in Changanassery near here on Saturday.
The resolution presented by NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair during the annual budget presentation slammed devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran for his stand regarding the issue.
Surendran had recently said that there was no need for a separate devaswom recruitment board and PSC would make appointments after meeting all necessary formalities and procedures.
A second resolution urged the government to take steps to protect the custom and tradition at the Sabarimala temple. The general secretary also presented the 102nd annual budget of the NSS, which envisages an income and expenditure of Rs 98.15 crore.
