KALABURAGI: Kalaburagi police, probing the alleged ragging of a dalit student from Malappuram, have filed cases against Al Qamar College of Nursing where the victim was studying, under IPC 176 (Omission to give notice or information to public servant by person legally bound to give it) and IPC 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others).
According to Kalaburagi superintendent of police N Shashikumar, the three students Athira, Lakshmi and Krishnapriya who were taken into custody by police in connection with the ragging case, were sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
Earlier the police had registered FIR against on four girl students.
Of these one girl, Shilpa Jois, is still absconding. While registering the FIR the police had mistakenly entered the name of Shilpa Jois as Shilpa and Jois and identified her as two persons, thus giving the impressions that there were five students involved in the alleged ragging incident.
