Jaipur: South-west monsoon is expected to arrive in Rajasthan in the next couple of days as the climatic conditions are favourable for its onset. Pre-monsoon showers continued to lash many places on Saturday which provided respite from the blistering heat conditions. Sriganganagar was the hottest place recording a maximum of 46.3 degrees Celsius, the Met office said on Saturday.

"The humidity level is almost 80%. For good rainfall, a humidity of nearly 90% is needed. Monsoon is expected to reach Rajasthan in the next 48 hours," said an officer with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi.
Sojat in Pali district received the highest rainfall of 70 mm in state. It was followed by Parbatsar(Nagaur), Rohat (Pali) and Bhinay where a rainfall of 30 mm was recorded. Many places including Jodhpur, Bikaner and Bhilwara too received rainfall varying from 20 mm to 10 mm.
The city experienced a warmer morning as a minimum temperature of 29.8 degrees Celsius was recorded. It was followed by a sultry afternoon with a high of 40.4 degrees Celsius and a humidity of nearly 70%.
Sriganganagar was followed by Churu where a maximum temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius was recorded, Bikaner 43.2, Jaisalmer 41.2, Barmer 40.8, Jodhpur 39.6, Kota 38.8 and a maximum of 38.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Ajmer.
Light to moderate rainfall will lash many places in the southern and eastern parts of the state in the next couple of days, as per a Met forecast.
