Police booked a physical education teacher of T&TV High School here on Saturday for allegedly thrashing a class VIII student for bringing street food to school.

Surat: Police booked a physical education teacher of T&TV High School here on Saturday for allegedly thrashing a class VIII student for bringing street food to school. The teacher was booked for non-cognizable offence and will be detained.
Dipak Gamit had allegedly thrashed Rupesh on school campus on Friday. Som Kumar Sharma, 49, father of Rupesh, lodged a complaint at Athwalines police station after his son complained of pain in his hands and back.
Sharma alleged in his complaint that Rupesh asked his friend to bring snacks from a roadside shop.
Gamit allegedly saw Rupesh get street food to school after which he hit him on his hands, twisted them and also punched him several times.
"The schoolteacher has been booked. We will detain him as per procedure for a non-cognizable crime," said A M Captain, police inspector, Athwalines police station.
