Ahmedabad: Around 4,300 seats have fallen vacant at Gujarat University, after final allotment for seats in seven courses including Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Business Administration.
Gujarat University on Saturday announced the final allotments for 31,723 seats in seven courses. According to Gujarat University officials, of the 4,300 seats 3,537 have remained vacant in Bachelor of Commerce courses.
Of the 1950 seats in BBA courses, 250 were vacant after final allotments, while all 1,440 BCA seats were allotted.
For the integrated law course, 552 seats were vacant. There are 978 seats for the five-year integrated law course.
According to GU officials, all seats in MBA and MCA were allotted.
Officials said that GU authorities failed to properly allot seats in the five-year integrated law course, and hence there was a delay in declaring these final allotments.
Officials said that 168 students have taken admission in commerce courses despite clearing the HSC examination from arts or science streams.
The Gujarat University had announced that they would give admission to the students from arts and science streams in commerce courses, provided they complete a bridge course.
According to officials, of the 4,300 seats, 1,608 students who have not been given admission as they chose top colleges despite being low on the merit list.
