Head clerk suspended

The government on Saturday suspended the head clerk who had been holding charge as Poovar sub-registrar for incurring heavy loss to the government.

Minister for Registration G.Sudhakaran said in a release here on Saturday that the head clerk, V.M.Preethy, was suspended on the basis of news reports that seven documents registered at the office for Heera Summer Holiday Homes had incurred substantial revenue loss to the government.

Based on the news reports, Mr.Sudhakaran had asked the District Registrar to probe and submit a report. It was found that the registration had incurred a revenue loss of Rs.10.55 crore to the government. Based on the report, the Minister ordered her suspension from service. The Minister has also directed to conduct a vigilance probe into the incident.
