MIRPUR: Atleast eight persons killed and ten others injured, when a passenger van skidded off the road and fell into Neelam River near Devlian village in Muzaffarabad district on Friday afternoon. According to police, “An ill-fated van was on the way from Panjkot village to Muzaffarabad when it met the accident near far-flung village of Develiyan, about 30 kilometres from the capital city, while negotiating a sharp turn.” Sources said that seven passengers were found dead in the wagon after the tragic mishap, and eleven of the injured passengers were shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Muzaffarabad, of whom one seriously injured reportedly succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital adding that the names of the deceased could not be ascertained yet and police is investigating the matter. The number of casualties might be increased because of serious condition of five of the injured passengers while more details are awaited.
