1.70 lakh fingerlings released

A total 1.70 lakh fingerlings were released in the water spread area in Mettur Dam on Thursday.

The State Fisheries Department officials released the fishlings in Masilapalayam area near the dam. C. Subramani, Assistant Director of Fisheries, and M. Kathiresan, Fisheries Inspector, released the fingerlings in the presence of a large number of local fishermen.

The fingerlings were bred in the Government Fish Breeding Farm in Mettur Dam.

This is the third time that Fisheries Department officials have released the fingerlings in the Mettur Dam’s water spread area in the last one week.

The Fisheries Department has targeted to release about 46 lakh fingerlings in Mettur Dam before June 30.
