Joseph Sequeira’s son assaulted in brawl

CALANGUTE: Calangute acting sarpanch Joseph Sequeira’s son, Joel, was allegedly assaulted in a minor brawl at Tito’s lane on Friday evening. Following the incident, Sequeira lodged a complaint with the Calangute police.
Sequeira said that it was a minor incident which occurred when Joel overtook a car. The occupants of the car took offence to this and and accosted the younger Sequeira when he was parking his car on Tito’s lane.There was a brief physical altercation during which the occupants of the other car, who Sequeira described as ‘goondas’, kicked the door of his son’s car and got into an argument with him.
Sequeira’s daughter was also present at the time of the incident, Sequeira said.
Calangute police have refrained from commenting on the incident. Sequeira has alleged that the incident is the handiwork of supporters of his political rivals.
