Chennai: The exodus seems to be continuing from the DMDK to DMK. On Saturday, 50 DMDK functionaries joined the DMK in the presence of party treasurer M K Stalin. Among those who joined were Lion S Sankar, DMDK's students' wing deputy secretary, who is a stakeholder in Vijayakanth's Captain TV as well.
MDMK Kancheepuram north district secretary Jegan Dhanasekaran and PMK's Mettupalayam constituency candidate K Murthy also joined the DMK.

Meanwhile, the breakaway DMDK group, Makkal DMDK, led by former party whip V C Chandrakumar has decided to merge with the DMK. The group comprising two other heavyweights, S R Parthiban and C H Sekar, both former MLAs, is expected to formalise the merger on Monday, sources said. The party will hold a meeting and seek other functionaries' opinion before announcing the decision.
"The DMK leadership is yet to give green signal to the merger, but our party is confident of the merger. Third front is irrelevant in the state," a senior leader of Makkal DMDK said. All the three Makkal DMDK leaders contested unsuccessfully in their earlier constituencies, Erode East, Mettur and Gummidipoondi on DMK symbol.
Including the trio, Vijayakant sacked 10 senior functionaries within hours of their questioning his decision to align with the PWF in the assembly election.
