Patna: The maiden common eligibility test (CET) for admission to three-year degree courses in different Patna University (PU) colleges concluded on Saturday. Of the 7668 applicants, at least 6221 took the test at five different centres for admission in the science stream.
Patna Science College principal and science faculty CET in-charge Upendra Kishore Sinha said the test was held peacefully at all the centres, including Patna Science College, Patna College, B N College, Magadh Mahila College and Patna Women’s College.
“At least 490 candidates, who did not apply properly, were also allowed to take the test after completing the necessary formalities. There was some confusion among the biology students due to an error in the answersheet, but the problem was sorted out immediately,” he added.
The CET results are likely to be published in the first week of July after which the colleges will start the process of admission on the basis of their performance in the test. The admission process is scheduled to be completed by July 15.
Meanwhile, PU is receiving a large number of online forms for admission to the conventional postgraduate (PG) courses. The last date for online submission of forms is June 28. PU students’ welfare dean Dolly Sinha said, “The process of online submission of forms and fees is being appreciated by the students, especially the girls, as they do not have to wait in long queues for purchasing the forms and submitting them.”
After the last date of submission of forms, the details of the applicants will be sent to the respective PG departments for their admission. Classes are scheduled to commence on July 21.
