Fire extinguished in well-site near Takka-Tulsi in Tripura

GUWAHATI: ONGC has managed to douse the fire at well-site near Takka-Tulsi, Manu Bazar Area, South Tripur.
Fire had broke out on June 24 last. According to ONGC, immediately two multi-Purpose Fire Tenders were rushed to site along with ONGC Fire personnel, Security contingent and a Multi-Disciplinary Team of experts from Crisis Management.

ONGC statement stated that fire was successfully extinguished with the use of Foam by ONGC Fire tenders. “The well at a depth of 2143 meters was drilled in February 1988. The gas wells drilled by ONGC are capped as per Standard Operating Procedures considering all safety aspects. The well remained safe since its completion for around 28 years. The fire could therefore, have started only due to unwanted trespassing by miscreants”.

A team of experts from ONGC are constantly monitoring the situation.
