Gujarat CJ calls for online linkage of revenue records

Gujarat CJ calls for online linkage of revenue records
AHMEDABAD: The Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court Justice RS Reddy on Saturday called for the need to provide online linkages of revenue records because the revenue department must know about all details that are registered in the state.
Addressing the second conference on the Revenue Rules and Disputes Procedures in Gandhinagar, the chief justice put emphasis on the requirement to reduce land related litigations, and insisted that the disputes lying before revenue authorities must end within three years.

Justice Reddy said that the resurvey of land that has been initiated will decrease land disputes in the state. Among people with low income, the practice is rampant that they do not get property transfer registered in order to avoid stamp duty. He said that such practice should be curbed with positive measures. He also called for the need on online registration of property deals.
The chief justice was of the opinion that the courts remain flooded with litigations related to breach of trust and data registration. Removal of certain discordance between the procedure of mutation entry and revenue code could bring down disputes considerably.
He said that rules and procedures in matters like registration of heirs and change of names in the property could be simplified by providing online linkages.
