Drunk drivers and speeding violations have kept police busy across Finland. Six drownings and three deadly traffic accidents were also reported.
The Central Finland police department describes Midsummer night as extremely busy. Alcohol-related fights, brawls, cases of vandalism and other offenses were rife.
Police came upon a 20-year-old van driver in Kinnula who registered a 2.14 per mil state of inebriation. The vehicle was also uninspected and its car tax was unpaid.
Häme police also had a tough shift, as they clocked a total of 482 calls, 299 of which occurred at night. A total of 36 especially drunken pedestrians were taken into custody, as were seven drunk drivers and another seven drunk boaters.

The Lapland police also report a lively night. A 61-year-old woman in Kemi stole a gold necklace from a 67-year-old man on Friday. The woman is also charged with felony drunk driving.
Oulu police say they apprehended a man driving a motorised lawnmower on a common road. He is charged with felony drunk driving.
Authorities in Vaasa are investigating a case where a man born in the 1970s attacked a man born in the 1990s. The assailant is charged with attempted manslaughter. The victim is not in immediate danger.
Four foreign nationals also came into police contact after reports of pickpocketing.
